Polls Apart

No matter if you have a disability or not can I please encourage you to take part in the Polls Apart Campaign and encourage as many others to do the same.

Scope have just launched the new Polls Apart website, www.pollsapart.org.uk

The site provides information on the voting rights of disabled people and resources for partner organisations and individuals to get involved with the campaign.

We’ve been running the campaign since 1992.  Over the years we have seen lots of improvements to polling stations across the UK . But there is still more to do. At the last General Election Scope's campaign volunteers surveyed over 2,000 polling stations and found that 68% of polling stations had one or more access problems.

Disabled people should have equal access to voting that is why we want to get as many people as possible involved with the campaign. On election day we will be asking people to fill out a survey. We’d like to support you to spread this message and complete the survey yourself.

You can get the survey from the Polls Apart website.

There are also other ways to get involved and the Voters section on the website has additional resources including:

  • A Polls Apart Lets Campaign Pack
  • Template letters to write to your local authority
  • Template press releases

Please do let us know if there are any other ways in which we can support you in your campaigning.  Do also let us know if you have a story to share about your voting experiences.

And finally, please do keep checking the Polls Apart website for all the latest news on the campaign.

Best wishes,
The Campaigns Team
Jamie, Abigail, Ron and Lucinda.
